Carrick Rangers 0 Northend United 4                                              Saturday 22nd November 2014

The Northend U13 team finally got off to a deserved win against Carrick Rangers in the Lisburn league and they really should have scored a lot more goals as they dominated from start to finish.  The Northend defenders really put in a great display of football and the midfield never stopped working .Captain on the day, Charlie Metrustry, playing on the leftwing was proving to be a real handful, and the two front players were closing down the Carrick defenders and not allowing them to play balls out from the back. Northend threatened to score from the first whistle but somehow they just couldn't get the ball into the Carrick net with the Carrick goalkeeper in brilliant form pulling of some great saves from Patrick Ferris and some poor finishing as well.  It took until the twentieth minute before Charlie Metrustry finally broke the deadlock when he coolly placed the ball past the advancing Carrick keeper into the bottom corner of the Carrick net and it was the same player who got the second when he arrived at the back post to volley into the roof of the Carrick goal just before halftime. Half time score 0-2

Northend again took control of the game and they really should have been out of sight with the chances they were creating but it was great to see so many players moving and playing attacking football. Matthew Stewart, at right back, was in inspirational form with his surging runs and overlapping play. Carrick were really struggling to contain him and he really deserved a goal for the work that he put in for the team. Northend added a third goal when Charlie Metrustry linked up with Oisin Connolly from a corner allowing Connolly to smash his shot into the far top corner of the Carrick net. Conor McDonald scored the goal of the game, Northend's fourth,  when he volleyed his shot from twenty five yards into the Carrick goal giving the keeper no chance. Final score 0-4

This was a great performance from all the Northend players.

Northend United 1 Glendowan 3    NIBFA Cup                             Saturday 15th November 2014

Glendowan went in front in the sixth minute of this match but Northend levelled the score when Connor Meeke scored direct from a corner kick, after he curled the ball into the Glendowan goal. Not for the first time this season Northend kept giving the ball away and  it wasn't long before Glendowan went in front again when they scored from a corner kick. Half time score 1-2

Glendowan had most of the play in the opening ten minutes but Northend came more into the game and Ronan McKillop in midfield was in great form and was winning a lot of tackles and Northend missed many great chances to draw level before Glendowan went further in front when they were awarded a penalty which they scored to go 3-1 in front.  Northend still to their credit never gave up and again made enough chances to win the game but just couldn't find the back of the net. With virtually the last kick of the game, a Conor McDonald penalty crashed against the Glendowan upright after Charlie Metrustry was upended in the box as he tricked his way past two players and was then tripped. Full time score 1-3

Windmill 6 Northend United 1                                                      Saturday 8th November 2014

Northend lost this match in the first half when they failed again to close down their opponents quickly which allowed them to find space and time to shoot at the Northend goal.

In the second half Northend put in a far better performance with Matthew Stewart and Ryan Mark the stand out players  with Stewart scoring the only goal for Northend and forcing the Windmill keeper into a brilliant save with the ball heading for the top corner of the Windmill net.

Hillsborough Boys 6 Northend United 2                        Saturday 1st November 2014

Northend were finding it difficult to control the Hillsborough Boys two front men who were very quick and it was these players who gave them a comfortable lead at half time even though Northend created a lot of opportunities themselves. Ross Gamble on the right wing was having an inspired day with his constant attacking runs and Charlie Metrustry on the left wing was linking up well with Josh Coates at left back to create some chances for Northend's striker Matthew Stewart to attack the Hillsborough goal, howevert neither player could find the target.

Northend kept pressing the Hillsborough back line and eventually they got their breakthrough when Charlie Metrustry closed down the Hillsborough defender who was trying to guide the ball back to his keeper, when he got to the ball first to blast home from just inside the box. Hillsborough responded with a quick goal before Matthew Stewart scored from outside the box with a great effort that slide under the keeper and into the Hillsborough goal.  Again Hillsborough responded with another goal but give credit to the Northend players they never gave up and continued to play good football until the end of the match, however their problem is finding the back of the net. The young team continue to have major injury problems and with some many U13 players on the injury list, five players from the U12 panel again impressed whilst stepping up a year to play in the highly competitive Lisburn Youth League.
